There can be other pets in the home, but the rat enclosure will need to be in a room that can be shut off from any cats or dogs.
Rats make excellent pets for all the family; they are inquisitive and affectionate and love to come out and play.
Rats need to be housed in a large cage filled with suitable enrichment to keep them interested and active. The ideal size cage for 3-4 rats is: 80cm deep by 50cm wide by 80cm high.

These 4 girls are a curious mischief who are always on the go wanting attention. They are often waiting at the doors of the cage to see if there are any tasty treats on offer or if they are going to be coming out for socialisation time. All of them love having free range time and especially like making a mess pea fishing! When they eventually get tired, they enjoy nothing more than snuggling up in their cosy hammocks. The girls get on well with each other and are good at being handled. They are be rehomed as a group of 4 who can either stay as a mischief of 4 or mixed with other female or neutered male friends. If you are interested in rehoming these girls, please do get in touch via the website.
