On September 5, dog lovers far and wide sat down to watch The Dog House, a fantastic eight-part series about how we match homeless dogs with the perfect new owners. In this first episode, viewers were introduced to Tiny, an adorable terrier cross who loves nothing more than being fussed over with plenty of cuddles, and he enjoyed these in abundance with his previous owner. But when they became too poorly to care for Tiny, we took him in and swiftly started the search for a loving new home.
Arriving at Wood Green in quite a worried state, it quickly became clear that Tiny needed his world kept small, just like him!
Chris, Team Leader, Assessment and Rehoming at Wood Green told us: “Tiny was quite a frightened little guy when he came on site. It took a few days for him to come out of his shell and make friends with people, but when he did you saw a very different side to him, a loving, playful, energetic little dog.” “With dogs like Tiny, you’ve got to take your time with them, be patient, take things at their pace, find out what they like – which in Tiny’s case was tennis balls!” he adds.
In the first episode, Tiny meets his potential new owners – a lovely couple called Heather and Elliot. You never quite know if that spark will be there during these introductions, but fortunately it was! They were the perfect match and a beautiful friendship was born. Tiny was soon rehomed and has since been renamed Obi, after the character in Star Wars. The force is definitely strong in this lively one! Everyone here at Wood Green was thrilled the couple decided to welcome Tiny into their lives, none more so than Chris. “What I really liked about them was how patient they were with him, and how they seemed to understand and be in sync with Tiny really quickly,” he says.
