Jack Russell Little Little Rex needs support

Every dog needs love and care

When Little Little Rex’s owner became too sick to look after him, he lost the only home he had ever known. Once in our care, we discovered his teeth were in such a terrible state, it must have been agony for him to eat.

£

£45 could contribute to the cost of a vital dental procedure for a dog like Little Little Rex.

£

£8 a month would help provide a full vet's medical examination for a pet in need.

Little Little Rex needs dental treatment

Alone and in distress

Not only had he lost his home of 10 years, a full health check by our veterinary team revealed that Little Little Rex had severe dental disease. Many of his teeth were missing and the remaining ones were in very poor condition. It was clear he was in a lot of pain whenever he ate. Not only this, but his poor dental health would leave him at risk of developing heart, kidney and liver disease.

A risky surgery

Rex needed urgent dental surgery – but as an older dog, it could be risky. We ran tests to make sure he was healthy enough to handle the anaesthetic before going ahead with the operation. In the end, he needed to have 10 teeth removed.

We were so relieved when he made it through the procedure. With ongoing care, Rex made a full recovery. It must have been such a relief not to have to live with that pain every day.

Finding Little Little Rex a loving home

Finding a loving home for Rex

Now that Little Little Rex was finally pain-free, his big, big personality could shine through! After leaving his home of 10 years, and the ordeal of his dental surgery – we knew we needed to find Rex the right home to spend his winter years.

And with a little help from The Dog House, we found Rex the perfect family in retirees Sylvia, Simon and their pampered little dog, Gucci. Little Little Rex’s second chance in a loving home is all thanks to the kind gifts of pet lovers like you – could you help us be there for the next dog like him?
