At Woodgreen, we're here for vulnerable pets at Christmas and all year round

Thanks to the kindness of people like you, we can be there for sick, injured and abandoned pets. No matter the cost, no matter the scars they carry, no matter their age and how long it takes.

How we cared for Harry

Harry was found abandoned in a heartbreaking condition on a bitterly cold December day. His leg was broken, his skin sore and scabby, he was extremely malnourished and weak. His fur was all but gone, he was covered in fleas, his skin infected in several places from scratching. Judging from his condition, he had been on his own for weeks.

Harry was in a truly distressing state when he came through our doors. But with our help he rebuilt his strength and immune system. Older pets like Harry spend twice as long in our care. That’s twice the care, twice the love, twice the cost.

A woman in a white protective suit and blue gloves gently washes a thin, brown dog with a scruffy coat outside near a chain-link fence. The dog looks calm and slightly sad.

If you believe older should not mean forgotten...

You can make older pets like Harry feel loved this Christmas.

£

£45 could cover the cost to feed six pets for one week.

£

£8 a month could help provide a full vet's medical examination for a pet in need.

Woodgreen Pets Charity is a registered charity (no. 298348)

100 years caring for vulnerable pets

Our incredible founder Miss Louisa Snow opened Wood Green Animal Shelter after being left heartbroken by the shocking number of pets suffering on London’s streets after the First World War.

Since then, we’ve grown into a charity which helps thousands of pets and people every year through a wide range of services and facilities. For over ten years we have proudly been the home of Channel 4’s The Dog House – showcasing our work to audiences around the world!

We’ve come a long way since 1924, but our determination to help pets in need has never changed.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, here's what we achieved in the past year:

220,000

people reached with our advice and support

5,744

pets helped in their homes

3,018

requests answered from people needing to give up their pet

1,844

pets brought directly into our care at Woodgreen

Loved, no matter what

Whether they’re sick, injured or simply in need of a little extra love – every pet deserves to enjoy their older years feeling safe and happy.

A hundred years is a long time, but the challenges people face with their pets are as relevant today as they were in 1924. We’re here to help pets in need – giving them safe shelter, specialist care, lots of fuss and a brighter future, no matter what.

Why people chose to support Woodgreen

Our team works tirelessly to provide safe shelter, specialist care, and a brighter future for thousands of dogs, cats and small pets. Whatever the reason for a pet coming to us, we don’t turn them away. At Woodgreen, our priority is to help every animal, no matter how challenging their care, or however long it takes. We make sure they are loved, no matter what.
