Starving and unable to eat from the pain
9-year-old lurcher Rusty was brought to Woodgreen by a worried farmer after being found alone in a field. He was extremely emaciated, just skin and bones. He had suffered so much.
The cause for his dangerously malnourished state was revealed after a check in his mouth. Rusty also had severe dental disease and clearly hadn’t been able to eat for weeks. This poor dog was in so much pain.
Safe, pain-free, and loved
Brought in from the cold, Rusty was given some much-needed care with warm blankets to help soothe his aching bones and vital nourishment. We quickly arranged his desperately needed dental surgery to alleviate the pain of his swollen mouth so he could eat properly again. Under general anaesthetic, our vets realised how bad his dental decay was, and that they couldn’t save his teeth. Unfortunately, all of them had to be removed.
With lots of tender loving care to help Rusty recover, he started to gain weight and his friendly soul shone through. Soon, our team could begin the search for his perfect match to spend his golden years with.
