Blind and struggling with constant pain
When eight-year-old Yorkshire Terrier Terry arrived at Woodgreen after being relinquished by his owner, it was immediately obvious something was wrong. With watery, inflamed eyes and bumping into objects in his unfamiliar surroundings, it became clear that Terry was completely blind.
Although his blindness didn’t appear to be an injury, so quite likely a disability he’d had since birth, this poor older boy was clearly very uncomfortable and needed help quickly.
As an older dog, Terry already faced a lengthy journey to find a loving new home – but sadly, he also had no hope of gaining vision. Our Surgery team decided the best option to help ease Terry’s pain would be to remove his irritated eyes.
Safe, loved, and happy with his new family
Terry’s operation went successfully, and now finally free from pain, his quality of life immediately improved. Aided with lots of treats and tender care, Terry recovered extremely well, and soon, he was ready to find his new home. It didn’t take long before our team found a loving new family for Terry to spend the rest of his years with.
