How a gift in your Will to Woodgreen can make a difference

Find out how you can make a real difference by leaving a gift in your Will.

You can give pets a second chance of love with a gift in your Will

You know that a life lived with pets is a life well loved. But unfortunately, not every pet gets the love they deserve. That’s why Woodgreen is here, providing safe shelter, specialist care, and a brighter future for thousands of pets.

But we couldn’t do it without the kindness of people who remember Woodgreen with a gift in their Will. Find out how you can make sure that your love lives on.

Make your legacy a world where sick, injured and abandoned pets get a second chance at love.

How a gift in your Will to Woodgreen can make a difference

Leaving a gift in your Will to Woodgreen ensures we can continue to give sick, injured and abandoned pets a second chance of love for years to come. These special gifts fund more than half of everything we do, funding vital facilities such as surgery, kennels and catteries. These gifts pay for everyday essentials, from warm shelter and food, to life-saving medical treatment.

But the demand for our vets, nurses and carers is increasing all the time as we are treating more and more pets with terrible injuries or complex medical needs.

A gift in your Will means we can continue to be there for these pets. Whether it’s a loving cuddle for a frightened pet or a complex operation that saves an animal’s life, a gift in your Will has the power to give these pets, and many more, a future.

Types of gift you can leave in your Will

Share of estate

Known as a residuary gift in your Will. After family and friends are provided for, you can leave a share of what remains to us. Residuary gifts keep up with inflation, so you may not need to update your Will in future.

Sum of money

Known as a pecuniary gift in your Will. A fixed sum of money makes an instant contribution. It is often worth reviewing a pecuniary gift from time to time, as inflation can reduce its value.

Valuable item

You can choose to leave a particularly valuable item as gift in your Will, such as furniture, jewellery or even a property, that may appreciate in value over the long term.

“I’ve learned the importance of a legacy. A little bit of his soul will carry on.”

Olivia, family friend of Jock who kindly left a gift in his Will to Woodgreen

Why support Woodgreen?

Ever since we first opened our doors in north London in 1924, we’ve been transforming pets’ lives – and through them, the lives of owners. From those humble beginnings we’ve grown into one of the UK’s largest pet charities and our Godmanchester base is one of the largest animal rehoming centres in Europe.

Last year we cared for 4,269 dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits and rodents in our centre. And alongside our animal care and rehoming, we helped thousands of pet owners with advice, support and training so they can give their pet everything they need.

How to remember Woodgreen in your Will.

Here are some tips to help get you started. You can find out much more by requesting our free guide.

  1. Value your estate: Your estate is the total amount of assets you have, minus any debts that you owe.
  2. Decide who you want to provide for: Think about your family, friends and favourite charities and how you might like to divide your estate. You can read about the different types of gifts above.
  3. Leave a gift to Woodgreen. You can help give pets a future by leaving a gift to Woodgreen. Please remember to include our full charity details in your Will:
Woodgreen Pets Charity, King’s Bush Farm, London Road, Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire PE29 2NH. Registered Charity No. 298348.
  4. Choose your executors: You can choose friends or family members to fulfil your wishes after you’ve gone. Alternatively, some people choose a solicitor.
  5. Ask a solicitor to draw up your Will. We always recommend using a qualified solicitor to draw up your Will to ensure that it is valid and accurately reflects your wishes.
