Foster a cat
Fostering a cat or kitten for Woodgreen is one of the most rewarding things you can do as a cat lover.
Being put in the temporary care of a fosterer gives the cat the opportunity to receive the love, care and attention they deserve whilst we find them a new, permanent home.
Plus you’ll make new friends with our Woodgreen team, and the volunteers that are already enjoying the benefits of fostering a cat.

What we're looking for
We’re looking for volunteers who can offer temporary foster homes for cats and kittens of all different ages. Ideally, you’ll be able to offer them whole house access.
Some foster cats may have medical issues. For cats with FIV, homes in rural areas where there are few cats around are extremely beneficial.

Access to 24/7 support
We often need fosterers to care for cats that may need housetraining, or have behavioural issues.
Our team of experts are on hand to help to deliver a programme specifically designed to meet the needs of the cat in your temporary care. You’ll also benefit from 24/7 access to support from the Woodgreen Team.

Eligibility
To join our group of local volunteer cat fosterers, you need to:
- be aged over 18
- live within a 40 minute drive of either our Godmanchester centre, Peterborough charity shop or Royston charity shop
- provide two character references as part of your application
If you already have pets, placing a foster animal may be more difficult, but we review every application we get in the hope that a suitable pet can be found for your individual situation.
Apply to foster a cat
Your application will take around ten minutes to complete. You’ll need the details of two references to submit your request successfully.
