Earth and Mars

After a difficult start in life, Woodgreen made the world of difference for Earth and Mars.

At just ten days old, these beautiful bunnies, along with their very poorly mum and six other siblings, were handed into our care by the RSPCA. The bunnies’ mum had symptoms of E. cuniculi, a common parasite, and needed to be put to sleep. Without her to care for them at this critical point of their lives, they needed hand rearing. Thankfully, three of the team stepped in to help.

Despite our best efforts, four of the bunnies didn’t survive. Sadly, this isn’t uncommon when a litter is hand reared. Then things took a worrying turn for Earth and Mars. They began to show signs of excessive drinking, and it was suspected they had developed the same condition as their mum. So we put them on a 28-day course of medication, and they were soon on the mend. Once we managed to get them up to a healthy weight, they were found a loving new home. And the other two surviving bunnies from the litter were adopted too.
