How Luna became Dexter…

We met little Luna and her owner at one of our Rabbit Health and Wellbeing clinics. After checking her over, we discovered that not only was Luna a male rabbit, but that he also had pinworm infestation. We were able to advise his owner to see their vet for treatment and to consider getting him neutered so we could help him find a friend. Read on to find out what we did and how he’s getting on today.

When an owner brought their new furry friend to one of our Rabbit Health and Wellbeing Clinics, they told us they were unsure if their young rabbit was male or female. The breeder had told the owner that she was female, so they decided to call her ‘Luna’.

We gave Luna a thorough health check and discovered she was actually male and also had a pinworm infestation. Overall, ‘Luna’ was in good health and we advised the owner to take him to the vets to get some worm treatment and to start thinking about getting him neutered. We explained it would be best for him to live with a forever friend so we also gave some information on Woodgreen’s mixing service.

After the clinic, ‘Luna’ was renamed ‘Dexter’ and received worming treatment for the pinworm. We also gave Dexter’s owner a neutering voucher so that he could find a friend as soon as he had recovered from the procedure.

We are now working with Dexter’s owner to help them improve his accommodation. Then we can put Dexter on our mixing list so he can be paired up with a single, neutered female rabbit. We’re keeping all our fingers crossed for him to find a lasting companion!
