Katie’s story

Katie the Lurcher was found abandoned, injured and all alone. Her recovery would be challenging, but we were on hand to help!

Lovely Lurcher Katie was found abandoned and handed into a vet by the police, before being brought into Woodgreen’s care.

Our Veterinary team found that she had a ruptured cruciate ligament in her knee, something we usually see in older dogs, presumably caused by a traumatic injury. Katie had surgery to place a nylon suture (loop) around the joint, reducing the hypermobility (unusual range of movement) caused by her injury.

As a bouncy girl with lots of energy, it wasn’t easy getting Katie to relax – which made her recovery all the more challenging. But eventually, she was ready to be rehomed, and now she’s enjoying her second chance at happiness with a loving new owner, Stephanie, who tells us: “Katie (now Polly) has settled in and her leg is healing well. She loves my other dogs and cats and is enjoying cuddles with us on the sofa.”

Give lurchers like Katie a new home by adopting a dog from Woodgreen today.
