Payroll Giving

Be a good human and give to pets like Poppy through your pay.

What is Payroll Giving?

If you’re looking for an easy way to support pets in need, Payroll Giving is the answer. By signing up, you’ll automatically donate to Woodgreen when you’re paid each month. What’s more, we’ll receive your donation before tax is deducted – and that makes your support go even further for pets and their people.

So, if you decide to donate £5 a month to Woodgreen, we receive the full amount and it only costs you £4, or £3 if you’re in the higher tax rate bracket. Everyone’s a winner, including our pets.

How do I set it up?

To donate through Payroll Giving, check with your employer if they have a Payroll Giving scheme. If they don’t please email Corporate@woodgreen.org.uk for more information.

Sign up now and help homeless pets get back on their paws. Every £1 you give will only cost you 80p – the tax man covers the rest.

How your regular donation will help Woodgreen

£3 per month would buy a tasty chew to keep dogs stimulated

£5 per month would buy a bale of hay for a pair of rabbits for a fortnight

£8 per month would pay for a kitten’s essential first vaccination.

Frequently Asked Questions about Payroll Giving

How do I know that you have received my donation?

We’ll send you a ‘thank you’ message, depending on your chosen contact preferences, and let you know how your support will make a difference to pets and their people.

Do I need to give a minimum or maximum amount?

As much or as little as you like, although we do recommend a minimum of £5.

Can I give to more than one charity?

Yes. Spread the love – we’re grateful for whatever you can give to Woodgreen.

Can I stop giving when I want?

Absolutely. Just let your company’s Payroll Department know (we’d be sad to lose your support though).

Is there an administration fee?

Yes, there may be a small administration fee (usually 25p or 4% of the monthly deduction). Your employer will use a Payroll Giving Agent (like a charity bank) to distribute your donations. These agents are charities and they need to cover their operating costs, so a small charge takes care of that. Many employers pay this fee on your behalf, so we receive your full donation.

Help! My employer doesn’t have a Payroll Giving Scheme

You’ll be relieved to know that this isn’t a problem. Just email corporate@woodgreen.org.uk and we can double check for you and suggest a HMRC verified Payroll Giving Agent if you do need one.

How is Payroll Giving different to a Direct Debit (Gift Aid)?

With Payroll Giving, donations are deducted straight from your pay, so we don’t need to claim back tax through Gift Aid. If you happen to be in the higher tax bracket, Payroll Giving is the sole way of automatically receiving all of your tax from a donation.

What happens if I leave my job?

If you leave, Payroll Giving stops automatically. But we’d love for you to continue supporting our vital work, which would mean signing up to Payroll Giving again with your new employer. If they don’t offer the scheme, we could help you arrange a Direct Debit or discuss other ways to support Woodgreen.
