“Walkies in a Winter Wonderland” film and campaign is a celebration of community, connection and canines, supporting Woodgreen Pets Charity this festive season.
Walkies in a Winter Wonderland is the new festive advert from British lifestyle brand White Stuff, shining a light on the joy of community – and the rescue dogs who make it even brighter.
Airing from 3 November to 19 December on ITVx, the 60- and 30-second adverts are set against the muddy trails and wagging tails of an English woodland, capturing the fun and chaos of a big festive dog walk. Customers wear pieces from White Stuff’s winter collection – including its much-loved Fair Isle knits, cosy outerwear and accessories – while some of their dogs sport matching Christmas jumpers, designed exclusively for the season.
To celebrate White Stuff’s dog-loving community and continue their commitment to casting real people in their advertising, the brand launched a social media casting call inviting customers to apply with their dogs to be part of the Christmas campaign. When reviewing the entries, the team discovered that a large number of applicants had rescue dogs – inspiring a partnership with Woodgreen Pets Charity (best known for Channel 4’s The Dog House) to support its work rehoming and caring for dogs, cats and small animals over Christmas.
From more than 1,500 entries, a group of customers and their dogs were selected to star in the campaign. The main advert sees Gandalf, Stevie Nicks and Obi take centre stage – joined by Maggie, a three-legged golden retriever, Brooklyn, a rescue from overseas, along with plenty of other four-legged personalities.
To celebrate the campaign launch, White Stuff will host a ‘Doggy Day’ in selected stores on Saturday 8 November. Customers and their dogs are invited to visit, shop, and enjoy a few festive perks, including a gift with purchase and an exclusive discount on White Stuff’s Christmas dog jumpers.
As part of the campaign, White Stuff will donate £10,000 to Woodgreen Pets Charity to help rehome pets in need this winter. December is Woodgreen’s busiest month, with around 10% more stray dogs arriving than at any other time of year, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the charity’s vital work.
“Celebrating our community is at the heart of what we do,” says Emma Spratt, Head of Brand at White Stuff. “When our casting call attracted so many customers with rescue dogs, partnering with Woodgreen felt like the perfect way to give something back.”
Helen Stapleton, Head of Rehoming and Veterinary at Woodgreen Pets Charity, said: “The lead up to Christmas is one of the busiest times of year for Woodgreen. Sadly, we’re expecting at least one stray dog to arrive every day during December at our rehoming centre – and many of these will need significant veterinary and behavioural support before they’re ready for a loving new home. This partnership with White Stuff will help us to support even more pets in need this winter.”
