How to donate items to our shops

Every item donated to Woodgreen charity shops helps to ensure every pet can have a healthy and happy home. Shop donations fund vital support for pet owners facing crisis, helping prevent the heartbreak of separation.

Items we can sell in our shops

Most of our shops sell the items listed below, but it is always best to call your local Woodgreen charity shop ahead of dropping off to check what they can accept, if you’re unsure.

  • Clothing and fashion (ladieswear, menswear, children’s clothes)
  • Bags, shoes and accessories
  • Jewellery and watches
  • Homeware (kitchenware, ornaments, cushions etc.)
  • Electrical items (lamps, small appliances etc.)
  • Music including vinyl, books, DVDs and console games
  • Toys and games
  • Vintage clothing, antiques and collectable items

Items we are unable to sell

We’re very grateful for the donations our supporters give to our shops. However, some items can’t be sold for safety and legal reasons and disposing of them costs the charity over £48,000 a year.

Before sorting through which items you’d like to donate, please check the list below of things we’re unable to accept at our charity shops:

  • Any items which are broken, ripped, incomplete or unsafe
  • Safety equipment (helmets, buoyancy aids, walkers, wheelchairs etc.)
  • Sharp items and weapons (sharp knives, real or replica swords or guns, crossbows etc.)
  • Sports equipment (bicycles, rowing machines, running machines etc.)
  • White goods (washing machines, tumble dryers, cookers etc.)
  • Personal devices (smartphones, laptops etc.)
  • Some children’s items (carrycots, car seats, baby walkers etc.)

To find out where else you may be able to donate items we can’t accept, please read our donation guide.

If you have any questions, give your local shop a call, or email us at retailoperations@woodgreen.org.uk.
