Join us for a fun and interactive Drop-in Rabbit and Guinea Pig Champions workshop, where families can learn how to help small pets live happy, healthy lives. This free session will take place on Thursday 28 May, from 10.30am–12.30pm, at the Wellbeing Garden at Cross Keys Homes, Peterborough.
There’s no need to book, simply drop in at a time that suits you. Each family can take part at their own pace, with activities designed to be flexible and engaging for all ages.
During the workshop, families will move through five interactive stations, each based on the five welfare needs that all pets require to stay healthy and happy. Children and adults will learn together through hands-on challenges, games and discussions focused specifically on the needs of rabbits and guinea pigs.
At the start of the session, families will be welcomed and given an activity sheet to guide them around the different stations. Everyone, grown-ups included, will work through the activities to complete a series of fun challenges and discover how to become Rabbit and Guinea Pig Champions.
Activities will explore topics such as creating safe and comfortable living spaces, understanding the correct diet for rabbits and guinea pigs, why companionship is so important, how to spot signs that a pet may need veterinary care, and ways to provide enrichment to keep them active and stimulated. As part of the session, families will also have the opportunity to pot up rabbit- and guinea pig-friendly plants, helping to bring enrichment ideas to life in a practical way.
The workshop is aimed at children aged 5–15, but activities are designed so the whole family can get involved. Staff and volunteers will be on hand throughout to support, answer questions and guide you through the activities.
Once all stations are completed, children will receive a certificate celebrating them as Rabbit and Guinea Pig Champions, along with a goody bag to take home.
Whether you already have small pets or are thinking about getting some, this free drop-in session is a great way to learn how to care for rabbits and guinea pigs and become a confident Small Pet Champion.
