Local and independent mental health charity Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and South Lincolnshire (CPSL) Mind will be helping people find their ‘Moments of Joy’ on Wednesday 13th May at a community wellbeing event in St Neots town centre. The event is in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Mental Health Awareness Week is a week-long campaign that takes place every year in May. This year it takes place 11-17 May 2026 and highlights the importance of good mental health, challenges stigma and promotes practical actions people can take to support their own wellbeing. It’s one of the most high-profile public health campaigns in the UK, reaching millions of people through media, workplaces, schools, and community events.
CPSL Mind will also be supporting National Mind’s ‘Mental Health Care is Human’ campaign by sharing how the local charity supports its communities in a person centered way. The event will be run in collaboration with the Citizen Hub, who has been successfully delivering its ‘Wellness Wednesday’ drop-in offering in St Neots since the start of 2026. CPSL Mind will be in the Citizen Hub having important conversations throughout the day with local people and sharing information about its services.
The charity’s ‘Moments of Joy’ campaign is running throughout Mental Health Awareness Week, aiming to help people find joy through a number of activities. Events are taking place in Cambridge, St Neots, Peterborough, and South Lincolnshire. The need for community mental health support has never been greater with 1 in 4 people said to experience a mental health challenge in any given year. CPSL Mind is a local and independent charity and supports 8,000 people each year.
Join Woodgreen, The Pets Charity for a fun and relaxed craft session
Drop in and make simple enrichment toys for dogs, cats, or small pets using recycled materials. It’s an easy way to help pets stay happy and active, while also being kind to the planet. As part of Mental Health Awareness week, this session is also a chance to slow down and enjoy a creative activity. Making something with your hands can help you feel calmer and more positive and you’ll be helping pets at the same time. Come along, get creative, and make a difference for pets and people.
Woodgreen will also be offering free dog health and wellbeing checks on a drop-in basis.
You can pop along to the Citizen Hub courtyard with your pet to meet the Woodgreen Community team for advice. During your dog’s health and wellbeing check, Woodgreen’s Community team can provide advice and support on a range of pet-related topics, including (but not limited to): Behaviour, Senior pet care, Diet, Microchipping* (recommended donation of £5 per pet), and Nail Clipping.
If you have a cat or small pet, please don’t bring them along on the day—but do come and have a chat with us if you’d like any advice or support.
*Please note: we are unable to microchip puppies under 20 weeks old or litters but can still provide health checks and lots of fuss!
Jo Knight, Community Outreach Manager at Woodgreen, said, “Mental Health Awareness Week is a great opportunity to highlight the small, everyday moments that can make a big difference to how we feel. At Woodgreen, we see first-hand how the bond between people and their pets can bring comfort, routine and joy.
“By connecting with the St Neots community, we hope to create a welcoming space where people can relax, get creative and access support for their pets. Having peace of mind that a beloved pet is happy and healthy can make a real positive difference to wellbeing.”
