Benson could potentially be left for a few hours once settled and this time is built up slowly.
This pet has medical concerns, namely abnormal tail confirmation, luxating patella and BOAS grade 2, that will require consideration before this pet is rehomed.
Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome this pet and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical concern, be that historic or ongoing, is discussed with your own vet prior to any book out appointment.
Due to the nature of the medical concern, a vet call with one of our onsite vets will be required before the pet goes home.
Benson can have some walking buddies but he does not want to share his home and resources with other dogs. He is likely to chase cats but could possibly live with securely housed small pets that are kept completely separate from him.
Benson is a friendly boy but his enthusiasm can sometimes get the better of him. We are looking for older children aged 13 years and over who can help with his training.
Benson would ideally like a private secure garden to run around in and play with his toys. This garden must be fully enclosed with a minimum of 5ft fencing.
Meet Benson – the fun-loving, toy-toting Bulldog with a big heart and even bigger personality!
Benson is an adventurous boy who brings laughter wherever he goes. Whether he’s showing off his goofy side or leaning in for one of his signature back rubs, he knows how to win hearts fast.
He’s a self-entertaining pup—as long as there’s a good stash of toys nearby, Benson will happily keep himself busy. In fact, don’t be surprised to see him proudly trotting down the street with a favourite toy in tow on his walks!
This charming Bulldog is a total foodie and always eager to please, making him a great candidate for training sessions (especially if snacks are involved). He’s sociable and enjoys meeting other dogs, although he can be a little enthusiastic at times.
He can get over-excited at times so he is looking for patient, training-minded owners who have the time and energy to give him what he needs and guide him towards making good decisions.
If you’re looking for a loyal, comical companion with a whole lot of love to give, Benson might just be your guy.
Breeds like British Bulldogs have extreme conformation, meaning that their body features are exaggerated. This can include having shorter legs or a flat face and shorter nose (brachycephalic).
Why these features can be a problem?
These characteristics can negatively affect their health and welfare. For example, dogs with shorter legs may be more likely to experience serious back issues and animals with flattened faces may find it difficult to breathe and struggle in the heat. Whilst not every dog will suffer these problems, it’s important to stop and think before adopting or buying one.
Due to these health issues regularly affecting certain breeds, you may face higher insurance and veterinary costs even if your pet is unaffected.
What to do before getting one:
If you’re thinking about welcoming this type of dog to your family, we recommend you do your homework to ensure you’re prepared.
If you are rehoming from a charity like Woodgreen, our veterinary team always give all pets a health check and you will be told about any health problems we identify. Our expert team will be happy to talk to you if you have any questions about the care Benson might need.
Ready to get started? We always start with our pets’ individual needs, which is why we need to find out a bit more about you first.
