Support and Health

Do I have any medical conditions?

History of

Comet has historic medical concerns, namely a wound to his leg, Gastritis and inflammation in his right eye, that will require consideration before he is is rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome this pet and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical concern, be that historic or ongoing, is discussed with your own vet prior to any book out appointment.

Due to the nature of the medical concern, a vet call with one of our onsite vets will be required before the pet goes home.

Who I can live with

Can I live with dogs?

No

Can I live with cats?

No

Can I live with small pets?

Yes

Additional information

Would be best as the only pet in the home due to his nervousness. May be ok to live with securely housed small pets.

Family and environment

What kind of family am I looking for?

Comet would prefer to live with an adult only family. He may sometimes hiss and swipe if he’s feeling unsure so he wants a family who will be patient and listen to his body language. His family must take a hands-off approach and allow Comet to initiate any interaction.

What type of environment would suit me?

Having lived as a stray, Comet has been used to spending time outdoors and is likely to have road sense as a result. Will need outside access in his new home once settled. He will need access to come and go freely, either via a cat flap or an easily accessed ground level window.

About Comet

Meet Comet! Comet was found as a stray, scared and anxious. He prefers somewhere to rest that is warm and quiet and can get a bit surprised with people entering his space. Comet is quite conflicted at the moment, he enjoys a fuss and will rub around you, but can also get spooked/overwhelmed and hiss and swipe. He will need understanding owners who will give him the time and space that he needs to adjust to life and learn to trust people again after living as a stray for a while. Comet has been used to having the freedom to wander as he pleases and so will need free access to come and go in his new home to prevent him becoming frustrated. Comet has been in a foster home for a few weeks, he took a while to settle, but as his confidence has grown, he has started to seek out attention and been sitting on his fosterers lap and enjoying a fuss. He is also very playful and loves to play with a feather wand toy

Things to note

Comet been placed in a foster home due to his nervous disposition and will be allocated a temporary unit at the centre on the day of book-out. Unfamiliar environments can be particularly stressful for nervous cats, therefore in order to safeguard its welfare and to promote positive interactions between you and your pet, it will not be possible to meet this cat prior to rehoming. Videos and photographs will be available to give you the opportunity to view the cat’s behaviour in a familiar setting and help you make a decision.
