Additional information

Hamsters are solitary creatures and should live alone.

As with all small pets, Grizzly will need to be housed securely away from any other pets in the home.

Family and environment

What kind of family am I looking for?

Hamsters spend most of the day time hiding away and sleeping. They are most active during the evening and overnight. Grizzly is a friendly hamster who will benefit from a family who will interact with him daily, he would make a lovely addition to any family.

What type of environment would suit me?

Syrian hamsters like to climb and travel large distances so need the biggest cage you can budget for. The minimum, a cage or ideally a tank, should measure 100cm wide, by 50cm deep, by 50cm high. But remember, bigger is always better for these guys!

All hamsters need a minimum of 6 inches of substrate around most of their enclosure, with a deeper digging space of at least 12inches (30cms) to enable them to create burrows and nests.

About Grizzly

Meet Grizzly, he is a very special hamster here at Woodgreen and has become a firm favourite for a lot of our staff. Grizzly is currently on foster, and thoroughly enjoys spending time on his wheel and digging around in his soil! Grizzly is also very partial to a meal worm and will sit in your hands munching away, he is a very confident hamster who finds comfort in his carers, he loves a little stroke and time out exploring. Grizzly, like most hamsters, can wake up on the wrong side of the bed, so a family who will understand he may need a bit more time to wake up before being handled will be important for him. Grizzly has such a wonderful personality and will do great with a family who can interact with him daily.
