Fireworks: how to keep your pets safe
Find out how to recognise fear in your pets and keep them safe and happy.
Madrono has a historic medical concerns, namely a wound to his neck which has healed and he also missing his canines after a dental surgery, that will require consideration before he is rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome this pet and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical concern, be that historic or ongoing, is discussed with your own vet prior to any book out appointment.
Due to the wound he arrived with, we feel Madrono would be best being the only cat of the house.
We don’t know if he’s had any history with a dog, but at this stage if there are dogs in the home they will need to be very calm and introductions must be slow and and at Madrono’s pace. A lively, bouncy dog will not be suitable for him.
He could live with smaller animals as long as they are securely-housed.
Madrono is looking for a calm and quiet home. He can live with adults only or children 13yrs+ who are calm and will give Madrono his space whilst settling
Madrono is looking for a calm and quiet home. To start, he will need to have access to a quiet room to settle and adjust and then gradually introduce him to the rest of the house as he gains confidence. Once settled in the home, Madrono will need access to the outdoors in his new home. Preferably in a quieter area. Once settled and regularly going outside he may benefit from a cat flap to give him access 24/7.
When Madrono arrived at Woodgreen as a stray, he was carrying not only a wound on his neck but also a deep mistrust of people. It has taken time, patience and lots of gentle care for him to realise that some humans can be pretty wonderful after all.
Madrono is now expanding his trusted circle and has shown what an affectionate, snuggly companion he can be. Once he trusts you, he adores a lap to flop onto and loves rolling around in pure contentment, soaking up every moment of love.
Madrono is not a “love you from day 1” kind of cat. He needs time, quiet and slow introductions to new surroundings. Once you’re part of his inner circle though, you’ll be rewarded with the pure joy of earning the love of a truly special soul.
Madrono has been placed in a foster home due to his nervous disposition and will be allocated a temporary unit at the centre on the day of book-out. Unfamiliar environments can be particularly stressful for nervous cats, therefore in order to safeguard its welfare and to promote positive interactions between you and your pet, it will not be possible to meet this cat prior to rehoming. Videos and photographs will be available to give you the opportunity to view the cat’s behaviour in a familiar setting and help you make a decision.
