Additional information

There can be other pets in the home, but the rat enclosure will need to be in a room that can be shut off from any cats or dogs.

Family and environment

What kind of family am I looking for?

Rats make excellent pets for all the family; they are inquisitive and affectionate and love to come out and play. Nuthatch and Nightjar are looking for a home that can give them some patience while they settle in.

What type of environment would suit me?

Rats need to be housed in a large cage filled with suitable enrichment to keep them interested and active. The ideal size cage for 3-4 rats is: 80cm deep by 50cm wide by 80cm high.

About Nightjar and Nuthatch

These two girlies haven’t had the best of start to their little lives, but we are ready to introduce you to Nightjar and Nuthatch. They came to us as very timid girls, but they have really grown in confidence! Especially Nuthatch, she definitely has a mischievous side to her. Nightjar liked to watch from her bed for a few minutes before feeling comfortable to come down and say hello, but is now walking out onto our arms ready for a snuggle where she will brux away. Although coming leaps and bounds with their confidence they both can still get a little spooked with fast movement. They both absolutely love their free range time, and its here we get to see their personalities shine! They’re hopping around, going through every nook and cranny taking in all the different smells, climbing over all the enrichment that is offered. With some more girls or neutered boys, these little girls will thrive into very sweet natured and gentle beings.

If you can offer Nightjar and Nuthatch some more ratty friends and a home, please do get in contact via the web.
