Join us for a fun and interactive Drop-in Rabbit and Guinea Pig Champions workshop, where families can learn how to help small pets live happy, healthy lives. This free session will take place on Wednesday 8 April, from 9.30am–12.30pm, at March Library.

There’s no need to book—simply drop in at a time that suits you. Each family will spend around 30 minutes completing the activities.

During the workshop, families will move through five interactive stations, each based on the five welfare needs that all pets require to stay healthy and happy. Children and adults will learn together through hands-on challenges, games and discussions focused specifically on the needs of rabbits and guinea pigs.

At the start of the session, families will be welcomed and given an activity sheet to guide them around the room. Everyone—grown-ups included—will work through the stations to complete a series of fun challenges and discover how to become Rabbit and Guinea Pig Champions.

Activities will explore topics such as creating safe and comfortable homes, understanding what small pets should eat, why rabbits and guinea pigs need companionship, recognising when a pet might need to see a vet, and how to provide enrichment and activities that keep them active and curious. Families will also discover fascinating facts about these popular pets and learn how to care for them responsibly.

The workshop is aimed at children aged 5–15, but the activities are designed so the whole family can get involved. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to guide families through each station, answer questions and support the activities.
Once families have completed all the stations, children will receive a certificate celebrating them as Rabbit and Guinea Pig Champions, along with a pick-and-mix goody bag to take home. There will also be extra activities available, including colouring, quizzes and small-pet themed games.

Venue, parking and facilities

The workshop will be held at March Library, a welcoming community venue in the town centre. Public parking is available nearby, including short-stay and pay-and-display options within walking distance. The library is also served by local bus routes.
The venue has accessible entrances, toilet and baby-changing facilities, and space suitable for buggies and wheelchair users.

Whether you already have small pets or are thinking about getting some, this free drop-in session is a great way to learn how to care for rabbits and guinea pigs and become a confident Small Pet Champion.
