My name is Jo and I work in Woodgreen’s Community Outreach team, helping owners who are struggling.
Whenever I get a moment I try and jot down the stories of the pets and people here at Woodgreen who you’re helping us to support.
Recently I received an email from Svitlana. She’d arrived as a refugee from the Ukranian war with her three precious cats and not much else.
My heart really went out to her – after having been through an unimaginably tough time and relocating to a new country, one of her cats, Jessy, had fallen ill and she was hit with a £1,000 vet bill she had no way of paying.
Her cats meant the world to her and I knew just how she felt. I got in touch with her to talk about how Woodgreen could help her find a solution and I’m delighted to say that thanks to our supporters, we were able to get Jessy back on her paws!
Thankfully, our Welfare team spotted her on CCTV and immediately sprang into action to bring her safely inside. They managed to coax her out from her hiding place in a small wooded area next to our entrance. Once close enough to put on a lead, they then moved her to our kennels.
