Could you open your home to foster cats and kittens?
Fostering gives pregnant mums and their kittens the best possible start in life.
Our vital work wouldn’t be possible without our incredible supporters and partners. This includes trusts and foundations who play a wide-ranging role in the difference we make to pets and their people.
As well as providing funding, trusts and foundations offer reputational and strategic support which helps us make an even bigger difference to the lives of pets in need.

Thanks to trusts and foundations, we can continue to give homeless pets a second chance – and be there for struggling owners. Below are just some of the many trusts that have supported us in recent years and made a huge impact towards our cause.
The Prowting Charitable Foundation was established in 2014 to honour the legacy of Peter Prowting – a successful businessman who strongly believed that his good fortune should be shared with those less fortunate. In line with Peter’s wishes, the Foundation focuses its charitable support on organisations devoted to the wellbeing of dogs and horses.
In 2024, the trustees of The Prowting Charitable Foundation generously donated £6,246 to Woodgreen. This funded the installation of reflective film on the skylights of our large kennel block.
This seemingly small but incredibly impactful upgrade has made a big difference. By reducing the amount of sunlight entering the kennels, the reflective film has helped to regulate indoor temperatures. This keeps the space cooler during warm weather – creating a significantly more comfortable environment for the dogs in our care.
We’re incredibly grateful for this thoughtful and targeted support, which has directly improved the welfare of the pets we look after.
With deep gratitude, we’d like to highlight the generosity of The Dr Sheila Millar Danks Charitable Trust and its three trustees. Their ongoing support for animal welfare charities –
– providing crucial grant funding across the east of England – has made a real and lasting difference.
Thanks to a kind donation of £7,000, the trust has funded the creation of a brand-new cat holding room at Woodgreen. This important addition means we can now comfortably house mums with kittens and accommodate larger groups of cats. This provides them with a safe, quiet space as they begin their journey toward a new home.
We know that Dr Sheila Millar-Danks was a devoted cat lover, so it’s especially meaningful that this gift will go support the wellbeing of countless cats and kittens, now and in the future.
To the trustees of the Dr Sheila Millar Danks Charitable Trust: thank you for your continued partnership, compassion, and commitment to improving animals’ lives in our communities.
We’d like to give our heartfelt thanks to the two trustees of The Serth and Gates Charity for their generous donation of £10,000.
This vital funding enabled the urgent replacement of fencing in front of the kennels in our top isolation unit, where we can protect some of our most vulnerable dogs. The previous wooden fencing had deteriorated badly, with over half already having been removed due to safety concerns. Replacing the fencing was essential to:
• Ensure the welfare and security of the animals in our care.
• Maintain safe working conditions for our staff.
• Preserve the functionality of our isolation area, which plays a crucial role in our intake and care process.
We’re incredibly grateful for this timely and impactful support, which has helped us continue to provide a safe environment for vulnerable dogs in need.
We’d also like to say a huge thanks to the following trusts and foundations for their generous support and commitment to animal welfare. Their contributions help us continue our vital work every day:
