Woodgreen in 2024, wrapped

It takes a village to get a pet ready for their next owner.

Thank you for a wonderful, pet-filled year

As 2024 closes, we wanted to look back over the year, to celebrate the pets you’ve helped, and the work it takes behind the scenes to get every pooch, moggy, bunny, and more, ready for their new home.

For each dog, cat and small pet that comes into our care there’s a long, long list of vet appointments, vaccinations, walkies, training sessions, tummy rubs and playtimes along the way.

And the pets in our direct care are only a part of the critical work we do. Beyond our rehoming centre, we’ve worked directly with owners to help them keep their much-loved family pet with them. Because rescue is only best after we’ve exhausted all the help we can give a pet’s current human.

So let’s yap up the Woodgreen year…

So far this year, we’ve rehomed

pets (and counting). That’s 33 pets a week!

That’s a lot of pets to keep fed, happy and calm in our rehoming centre and in foster homes. In fact, it took…

118,343

training and play sessions

Everyone needs some downtime, and we provided 55,671 hours of fetch, stay, and if-I-fits-I-sits.

42,036

shouts of 'walkies!'

We never need to ask twice. And at just under a mile a walk, that means our carers and fosterers walked one-and-a-half times around the world!

87,600

litter trays emptied

Only the best for our feline guests. Our cat carers clean 240 kitty bathrooms every day.

A recent happy tale

When we got the call about five Belgian Malinois puppies found abandoned in a rusty cage, our hearts sank. These high-energy, intelligent pups are usually working superstars for the police and military. Could we find the perfect homes for not just one, but five of these boisterous bundles of joy?

Knock knock. Who’s there? A helping hand.

Our work doesn’t end with our rehoming centre. We’re on a mission to ensure that every pet parent has all the help they need so that more pets stay in their first, loving home. We all know that sometimes, being an owner is hard. It’s okay to ask for help, and that’s why we support owners regardless of where they’ve got their pet from.

Our teams spent the year in homes all around the east of England, helping owners navigate through those tricky pup teenage years, unexpected litters of kittens and bunnies, and being a sympathetic ear when someone just can’t see a way out.

So far this year we’ve helped…

5,395

pets in their own homes

Because every pet we can help stay with their current owner is one more happy pet in a loving home.
