There can be other pets in the home, but the rat enclosure will need to be in a room that can be shut off from any cats or dogs.
All of our single/pairs of rats are waiting to mix with owned pets. Please only apply for them if you already have a rat(s) who is in search of a companion(s).
If you currently do not have any rats in your care and would like to rehome, please check the trio’s/groups we have available.
Family and environment
What kind of family am I looking for?
Rats make excellent pets for all the family; they are inquisitive and affectionate and love to come out and play. Merlin and Cream would be great for new rat owners who would enjoy their playful side yet allow them the patience to help build their confidence further.
What type of environment would suit me?
Rats need to be housed in a large cage filled with suitable enrichment to keep them interested and active. The ideal size cage for 3-4 rats is: 80cm deep by 50cm wide by 80cm high.

About Merlin and Cream
Merlin and Cream, are a pair of super friendly and inquisitive boys who are looking for their forever home.
Both boys actively interact with people and love lots of affection and head rubs. If you are near by, they are sure to be awake and seeking your attention. They are well bonded and love snuggling up together in a cosy hammock, foraging around for their favourite foods and playing.
Cream and Merlin really enjoy their free range time, pea fishing and exploring a new space. The boys can be a little nervous when being picked up; however, we have not found this to be an issue as they are always keen to hop out of their cage onto your arms.
