Additional information

There can be other pets in the home, but the rat enclosure will need to be in a room that can be shut off from any cats or dogs.

All of our single/pairs of rats are waiting to mix with owned pets. Please only apply for them if you already have a rat/s who is in search of a companion/s.

If you currently do not have any rats in your care and would like to rehome, please check the trio’s/groups we have available.

Family and environment

What kind of family am I looking for?

Rats make excellent pets for all the family; they are inquisitive and affectionate and love to come out and play.

What type of environment would suit me?

Rats need to be housed in a large cage filled with suitable enrichment to keep them interested and active. The ideal size cage for 3-4 rats is: 80cm deep by 50cm wide by 80cm high.

About Slim & Shady

Slim and Shady are two little guys looking for more rat friends to keep them company. This confident duo love causing mischief and enjoy having lots to explore both in and outside of their cage. Free range time is their favourite time with lots of activities such as pea fishing, digging for treats hidden in a soil and seeing if they can find a way to escape! Slim is the more outgoing of the pair and is helping Shady to grow in confidence, especially around being handled. Once out, they love to spend time exploring and climbing up onto your shoulder. Having somewhere safe, cosy and warm to take a nap is equally important for both Slim and Shady. If you are interested in rehoming Slim and Shady, please do get in touch via the website.
