Helping pets and their people with The Trussell Trust

At Woodgreen, our work goes far beyond the care we provide for homeless pets at our centre in Cambridgeshire. Our dedicated Community Outreach team support pets and people in many ways, and our partnership with The Trussell Trust is a shining example of how we’re supporting pet owners in the community.

The Trussell Trust is an NGO and charity that works to end the need for food banks in the United Kingdom. Right now, we’re proud to be supporting 23 Trussell Trust food bank centres, and two more independently-run food banks.

Together for pets

Since April 2022, we’ve provided over 824 food packages to food banks. These have typically been cat or dog food, as well as small pet food on request. The packages are intended to last three to five days, and we aim to support owners with a longer-term plan, depending on their needs. Each bag contains a referral leaflet which signposts to our community support services, and how to get in touch.

Why our partnership matters more than ever

As the cost of living crisis continues, our work with The Trussell Trust has never been more vital. There are more pet owners reaching out to us for support than ever before. And for some, the only choice has been to give up their pets. But through our community outreach work and ongoing partnership with The Trussell Trust, we’re doing everything we can to support pet owners – keeping pets and their people together.
