Pet advice from Woodgreen
From behavioural issues to dietary needs, we’ve got you covered.
We believe the most powerful rescue is one that keeps pets safe at home with the people they love.
We know how much joy pets bring to their owner’s lives, and we’ve seen how painful it is for both when they’re separated from each other. None of us know what’s around the corner – when a struggling owner is faced with an unexpected crisis like a sudden vet bill, loss of a job, or illness, many feel like the only option is to give up their beloved pet.
But it doesn’t need to be this way. We step in before that crisis becomes a heartbreaking separation – offering practical advice and support that helps to keep pets in their loving homes.
Our teams work in pet owners’ homes and the community to provide the right support at the right time – from health checks and behaviour advice to emergency food, veterinary support and ongoing care.
We know these are loving owners who are dedicated to their pets, but they don’t always know how to help them or aren’t aware of the services we offer. We’re determined to reach pet owners sooner, so they don’t feel forced to give up the pet they love.
By easing the pressures that push owners to breaking point, we can help keep pets where they belong: safe, loved and at home. This is how we rescue.
And when staying together isn’t possible, we continue to care for pets – giving them the shelter, support and kindness they need until they find another loving home.
Phil and his beloved cat, 21-year-old Bella, have been together through it all. From supporting Phil with his anxiety to being there as he recovered from heart surgery, she has been his constant. But, when Bella started slowing down and losing her appetite, Phil worried he’d lose his best friend.
Unsure how to give Bella the right care and manage costs involved, Phil was struggling, so he reached out to Woodgreen for help. Our Community team were able to provide the hands-on support he needed to feel confident in caring for Bella.
From liaising with Bella’s vet to helping with supplements and dental food, we made sure Phil had a plan to support Bella in her old age. This helped to keep her where she belongs – at home with Phil. Today, she’s living out her golden years comfortably, with her best friend by her side. This is how we rescue.
Just like we did for Phil and Bella.
