Pet advice from Woodgreen
From behavioural issues to dietary needs, we’ve got you covered.
In 2024, 59% of the cats and dogs we were asked to take in could have stayed in their original homes if earlier support had been available.
New research has revealed that a third of pet owners in the UK have given up a pet at some point but, heartbreakingly, almost 50% of owners don’t realise that charities could help them to keep their pets.
Some owners are hit hard by the cost of living and struggle to cope with the rising cost of pet food and vet bills. Others have pets with complex health issues and don’t know where to turn to get their beloved companion the care they need.
Early support could have prevented many of these owners from feeling like giving up their pet was the only choice.
So, we want to make shelter the exception by making sure that no loving owner ever has to give up their pet.
Because keeping pets in the homes they know, with the people who love them is how we rescue.
By working with people in their communities and homes, we’ll be able to ensure more pets and owners receive the free, practical support they need than ever before. From health checks and behaviour advice to emergency food, veterinary support and ongoing care, we’ll ease the pressures pushing families to breaking point. This means we’ll help keep pets where they belong: safe, loved and at home. This is how we rescue.
