Leaving a Gift in your Will

Leaving a gift in your Will to Wood Green is an act of kindness that gives homeless pets a second chance at life.

Every year Wood Green cares for thousands of ill, injured and homeless pets. Over half of the pets we care for are only helped thanks to gifts in Wills. They help to provide the lifesaving operations, warmth and shelter to give every animal the second chance at life they deserve.

Why gifts in Wills matter

Without the kindness of people who remember Wood Green in their Will we could not continue to do our work - these special gifts fund more than half of everything we do.

Without them, we wouldn’t be able to care for thousands of poorly or injured pets or carry out thousands of life-saving operations and veterinary checks every single year. Not only do gifts in Wills fund our vital facilities such as our surgery, kennels and catteries, they also help pay for everyday essentials, from warm shelter and food, to life-saving medical treatment, plus all the love and care that pets need while we find them a new home.

Help more pets like Peter

Peter was found, at just four days old, under a shed all alone. A kind builder brought him in to Wood Green - on arrival he was cold and dehydrated and, so small he could fit in the palm of your hand.

After a veterinary check, and being cleaned and fed, Peter was sent home with one of our highly experienced fosterers so he could receive dedicated attention. At first he needed to be bottle fed every two hours and as his back legs were unsteady, we put him on an activity plan to help build his muscles and kept a close eye on him.

After 65 days of care from Wood Green’s Vet team and fosterer, Peter was ready for the next chapter in his life. We soon found him a loving new home, where he’ll get all the love and care he deserves. If it wasn’t for the generous support of those who leave a gift in their Will to Wood Green, Peter may not have been able to get the life-saving care he needed.

How to leave a gift

We know that organising your Will can feel like a daunting task, so why not let us make it easier for you? Wood Green has partnered with the National Free Wills Network and Farewill to offer a limited amount of simple free Wills, or mirror Wills for couples. Find out more.

  • A share of your estate (a residuary gift)

After family and friends are provided for you can leave a share or percentage of what remains to Wood Green. The advantage of this type of gift is that it keeps up with inflation so you are less likely to need to update your Will in future.

  • A fixed sum of money (a pecuniary gift)

You could also leave a fixed sum of money to Wood Green. It is often worth reviewing this type of gift from time to time, as inflation can affect its value.

  • A specific gift

You can also choose to leave a particular item which could be furniture, jewellery or even a property.

It makes me so happy to be able to leave a gift in my Will knowing I can help other vulnerable animals in the future. It's the least I can do to help abandoned animals have a chance of happiness, and a loving family to take care of them.
