We welcome the provisional findings in the Competition Market Authority’s investigation into the veterinary market.
Veterinary care is now one of the biggest and most unpredictable costs facing UK pet owners, and too many people are being forced to choose between paying their bills and protecting their pet’s health.
At Woodgreen, we see first-hand how rising costs and limited information are leaving pet owners unable to access essential care. Over the past year, we’ve seen a clear increase in people turning to us for help with treatment costs or heartbreaking decisions about their pets’ futures.
We know that veterinary teams want the best for the pets and people they work with. Clearer pricing, transparency and communication will empower pet owners to make informed choices and allow vets to continue providing the highest standards of care. However, the approach taken must be practical and effective.
As a charity that supports thousands of pets and their people every year, we’ll continue to amplify the voices of those most affected and use our expertise from our work supporting pet owners in communities to meaningfully engage in the CMA consultation.
