Found with a ruptured eyeball

Hope the three-year-old Chihuahua was found alone, with a bloodshot and ruptured eyeball that was causing unimaginable pain.

Hope was found in a terrible condition. Her left eye was injured – ruptured, bloodshot, and bulging out of her eye socket. There was no sign of vision, and she seemed to be in agony.

We knew she couldn’t wait any longer. She was rushed into emergency surgery to have the painful eye removed.

Hope's journey to healing

We tried to keep Hope as comfortable as possible after her surgery. We noticed that she was very nervous and would shy away from being touched. After all she’d been through, we didn’t want to push her, so we held off doing a full health check for now.

At first, Hope stayed in the office with our surgery team, allowing her to rest and recover. When she was ready, we moved her into a trusted foster home for 24/7 monitoring.

It wasn’t long before Hope was starting to feel better. While in surgery for a routine spay, we could finally give her a full health check, including checking her teeth and ears. Thankfully, she seemed very healthy, and with her eye healing well, she was ready for a new start.

Caroline spotted Hope on our website immediately: “My last Chi also had to have an eye removed, so I knew straight away Hope was the one for me.”

A new Hope

And it was clear Hope agreed – within a few weeks of living with Caroline, she was snuggling under the duvet, learning how to do tricks for treats, and discovering her inner diva. After all, what pup doesn’t deserve to have their paws dried when it’s been raining?

“It feels like she has been here forever and I love her so much,” Caroline says.
