Additional information

There can be other pets in the home, but the rat enclosure will need to be in a room that can be shut off from any cats or dogs.

All of our single/pairs of rats are waiting to mix with owned pets. Please only apply for them if you already have a rat(s) who is in search of a companion(s).

If you currently do not have any rats in your care and would like to rehome, please check the trio’s/groups we have available.

Family and environment

What kind of family am I looking for?

Rats make excellent pets for all the family; they are inquisitive and affectionate and love to come out and play. These girls are looking for a family who will have patience and gentle handling for them to feel safe and grow in their confidence.

What type of environment would suit me?

Rats need to be housed in a large cage filled with suitable enrichment to keep them interested and active. The ideal size cage for 3-4 rats is: 80cm deep by 50cm wide by 80cm high.

About Cheese and Pickle

Cheese and Pickle are just meant to be together! This fantastic pair of female rats are super inquisitive and love to know everything going on around them. They both are still a little unsure about being handled but with practice, time and patience we hope their confidence will improve. Also having more rat friends with them helps them feel safe and become more confident. Free range time is just one of this pairs favourite things to be doing, along with pea fishing and spending time running a marathon on their wheel. As well as being an active pair, its important for them to rest and they enjoy no better place than a lovely soft snuggly hammock. If you are rats and are looking to add to your group, please do get in touch via the website.
