Support and Health

How much training will I need?

Needs some support

Can I be left alone?

Yes

Cookie and Shay have been left before for up to 4 hours. During which they have been settled with access to a sofa.

Any home alone time will need to be built up gradually.

Do I have any medical conditions?

History of

Cookie has historic records of an anal gland abscess (Resolved) and existing patellar luxation; Shay has historic dental work, resulting in full mouth extractions (no further teeth present), all of which will require consideration before these pets are rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome them and you are a successful match.

We would also advise that any medical conditions, be that historic or ongoing, are discussed with your own vet prior to taking them home.

Who I can live with

Can I live with dogs?

Yes

Can I live with cats?

Yes, conditionally - They have previously lived with cats, so could do again with appropriate introductions.

Can I live with small pets?

Yes, conditionally - If securely housed.

Additional information

Cookie and Shay could live with other dogs but would need to be a similar size to them, no bigger than a terrier. Larger dogs can make Cookie a bit nervous.

They are a bonded pair so will be rehomed together, and will likely just co-exist with any other dogs.

Family and environment

What kind of family am I looking for?

They would be best suited to a quieter home, any children being aged 11 plus.

Cookie and Shay can be a bit wary of being over-handled, so children will need to learn to read their body language and react appropriately.

What type of environment would suit me?

Cookie and Shay previously had a large garden which they loved running around in.

Their previous garden was their safe space, so they will need a secure garden in their new home.

About Cookie and Shay

Meet Cookie and Shay – a perfect pair of older ladies!

Cookie is a wonderful older lady looking to spend her senior years resting on a cosy bed with her friend Shay.

Shay is the perfect mix of sweet, cuddly, fun and playful. With her confident and outgoing personality, she’s always the life of the party. She has a special way of helping her best friend, Cookie, navigate the world, giving her the confidence she needs to meet new friends and enjoy new experiences.

Cookie is the quieter one of the two and can be a little shy when first meeting you. But once she warms up she loves to snuggle up to her people.

When we first met Cookie and Shay, they were both a little nervous and unsure of the big world around them. It took some time, patience, plenty of cuddles and, of course, a few tasty treats, but before long they truly came out of their shells. Watching their confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding, and they’ve blossomed into two wonderful companions who are ready to share their love with a forever family.

Things to note

Cookie and Shay are a bonded pair, who will need to be rehomed together.

Cookie is a Chihuahua, aged 12 years, 1 month. She is the smaller white one of the pair.

Shay is a Chihuahua cross Pomeranian, aged 8 years, 10 month. She is the larger tan one of the pair.

Chihuahuas are sassy little firecrackers that love to make themselves known to their humans. Learn more about the breed at Ask Woodgreen.
