Pet advice from Woodgreen
From behavioural issues to dietary needs, we’ve got you covered.
Like other small pets, they should be kept safely away from other animals in the home. As prey animals, they may feel threatened by the presence of other species such as dogs and cats.
Guinea pigs can make lovely pets for all the family; they are loveable and charming little animals. Some confident piggies can rule the roost with their wheeking for veggies and demands of a cheeky little head rub from the get-go. Being prey animals they can get spooked quite easily, and it may take time for some guinea pigs to feel safe in their new home. Like any animal, treating them with kindness and patience, you will provide them with a safe environment for them to gain confidence.
The minimum accommodation for a pair of guinea pigs consists of a 5 x 2ft sheltered space, such as a hutch, Wendy house, shed or indoor accommodation. Along with a 6 x 4ft wooden framed run with a removeable/hinged lid, or equivalent indoor free-range space (if no access to garden) with a minimum of 18inches high.

Meet Harry and Pumpkin, two adorable brothers who are searching for a loving home together.
These handsome boys came into our care when they were just a few weeks old and have been inseparable ever since! They share a wonderful bond and spend their days exploring, chatting away to each other, and, most importantly, enjoying their favourite pastime – eating!
Pumpkin is the biggest foodie of the pair and is always the first in line, shouting when food arrives. Whether is crunchie peppers, leafy greens or fresh forage, Pumpkin’s enthusiasm for food is guaranteed to make you smile. Harry is a little more reserved than his brother, but just as sweet. He’s often found close behind Pumpkin following his brother’s lead on their daily adventures.
Both boys are going into friendly and curious guinea pigs and will make fantastic companions for someone looking to welcome them into their family. They can both be a little shy in new surroundings due to being young. However, we have found food is the way to their hearts.
If you can offer these charming brothers the loving forever home that they deserve, please do contact us.
