Pet advice from Woodgreen
From behavioural issues to dietary needs, we’ve got you covered.
This gorgeous hunk of loveliness is Mickey!
Mickey has been with us a long time and has been through 2 major operations whilst in our care to ensure he is happy and comfortable. Before this he was in a lot of pain and would hide away from us, swiping if we got too close. Now, he is like a different cat!
Now, Mickey loves fuss and attention. He no longer hides and will be sprawled out in full view of the door so he can come over and demand head rubs as soon as he sees you. He’s started to play more, especially with ping pong balls or anything with catnip. He’s even slowly started to settle onto laps for an afternoon snooze!
Mickey was born deaf, so the operations he has had on his ears have not changed his perception of the world, so he can still live his normal life that he has been used to.
Mickey has historic medical concerns, namely mild anaemia, and diarrhoea that will require consideration before this pet is rehomed. He had a cat bite abscess on entry that has now healed. Lastly, he has had an operation called a TECA (Total ear canal ablution) on both ears, which has removed all the inner workings of said ears.
Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome Mickey and you are a successful match.
We would also advise that any medical concern, be that historic or ongoing, is discussed with your own vet prior to any book out appointment.
Due to the nature of the medical concern, a vet call with one of our onsite vets will
be required before the pet goes home.
Mickey would prefer to be the only pet in the home so he can have all of your attention to himself.
As he is a hunter, we would recommend he not live with small pets.
Currently we are recommending that Mickey not be rehomed with young children, however as he is doing so much better now he is recovered this could be discussed further with our rehoming team if children in the home have lived with cats before.
Mickey has lived next to a road previously and was not bothered by it, so could do so again. It would be nice for him to have a private garden of his own.
Mickey is currently living in a foster home and will be allocated a temporary unit at the centre on the day of book-out. Most cats find unfamiliar environments quite stressful and this can affect their behaviour in the cattery, however given his confident and sociable nature Mickey will be suitable for a meet prior to rehoming
