Pet advice from Woodgreen
From behavioural issues to dietary needs, we’ve got you covered.
Like other small pets, they should be kept safely away from other animals in the home. As prey animals, they may feel threatened by the presence of other species such as dogs and cats.
Guinea pigs can make lovely pets for all the family; they are loveable and charming little animals. Some confident piggies can rule the roost with their wheeking for veggies and demands of a cheeky little head rub from the get-go. Being prey animals they can get spooked quite easily, and it may take time for some guinea pigs to feel safe in their new home. Like any animal, treating them with kindness and patience, you will provide them with a safe environment for them to gain confidence.
The minimum accommodation for a pair of guinea pigs consists of a 5 x 2ft sheltered space, such as a hutch, Wendy house, shed or indoor accommodation. Along with a 6 x 4ft wooden framed run with a removeable/hinged lid, or equivalent indoor free-range space (if no access to garden) with a minimum of 18inches high.

Meet Peanut, she is a sweet girl looking for her forever home and life long friend.
She is looking for a home where she can settle in, feel safe and enjoy all the comforts a guinea pig deserves. She would make a wonderful addition to the right home.
As she becomes comfortable in her surroundings, Peanut enjoys spending time munching on hay, tucking into her favourite veggies and relaxing in a cosy hide. He big eyes and sweet face make her all to easy to fall in love with. Peanut is now ready to start the next chapter of her life and is looking for the right companion to do this with. Being a social species, Peanut would benefit massively from a friend she can snooze and explore with.
Could you offer this sweet girl the loving forever home she has been waiting for?
