Do I have any medical conditions?
Pepper has historic medical concerns, namely respiratory, that will require consideration before this pet is rehomed. This has since cleared up and he is now fit and healthy.
Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome this pet and you are a successful match.
We would also advise that any medical concern, be that historic or ongoing, is discussed with your own vet prior to any book out appointment.

Like other small pets, they should be kept safely away from other animals in the home. As prey animals, they may feel threatened by the presence of other species such as cats and dogs.
Brie and Pepper are looking for a home where they can be mixed with some rat friends, creating a minimum of a trio.
Family and environment
What kind of family am I looking for?
Rats can make excellent pets for families and are often suited to children who can handle them calmly and confidently. They are intelligent, social animals who love human interaction and can form strong bonds with their owners. Rats thrive on routine, and love to come out of their cage to play every day.
Brie and Pepper are lovely boys who would suit any family who understands Brie many need that little bit extra time to trust. They can be suitable for children who can be calm and handle gently, allowing Brie time to come out on his own.
What type of environment would suit me?
Rats are highly intelligent and active animals that need plenty of space to climb, explore and play. For a group of 3-4 rats, a suitable enclosure should measure at least 80cm wide, 50cm deep and 80cm high, with bar spacing no larger than 1cm. Providing enrichment is just as important as the cage size – rats need a stimulating environment to keep them happy and engaged. They also require opportunities for exercise and exploration daily outside of their cage.

About Brie and Pepper
Brie and Pepper are two wonderful boys looking for their new place to call home. After spending some time settling in, it’s clear that these two are going to make a family very happy. As each day passes, they are showing more and more of their individual personalities, and it’s lovely to see them growing in confidence.
Brie is the more reserved of the two, and it took him a little while to feel safe and comfortable. In the beginning, he would peer around the corners of his enrichment, quietly keeping an eye on what we were doing. Since then, he has been gaining confidence more and more, and he now comes up to the cage door to greet us and say hello.
Brie absolutely loves free-range time, where he enjoys exploring everything around him and will even come over to hop onto your lap. He has such a sweet and gentle nature — a real little heart-stealer.
Pepper is pure joy. He is immense fun and absolutely loves to dig, creating burrows and rearranging his cage! From the very beginning, Pepper has been a little ball of energy and confidence. He loves to play while his cage is being cleaned and gets incredibly excited about all the activity going on around him.
He particularly enjoys moving his bedding around to create the cosiest den possible, carefully choosing individual pieces to take back and build his perfect little hideaway. Once it’s ready, he and Brie can often be found snoozing together, curled up side by side. His latest favourite material? Strips of fleece bedding!
These two boys have such lovely, complementary personalities, and it’s clear how much they enjoy each other’s company. They are looking for a family who already have rats of their own, to create a minimum mischief of 3.
