Meet Loki and Marshmallow

  • Sweet
  • Gentle (Loki)
  • Diva (Marshmallow)

Loki and Marshmallow are ready to become part of a loving family!

Marshmallow definitely rules the roost! Although she is an older bunny, she has plenty of sass to make up for it. She is the boss and Loki knows it! They are a very well bonded pair who are often found snuggling together under a chair or table. Loki is more confident around humans than Marshmallow and will hop over to see what you are doing whilst you are in their unit. Marshmallow does tend to keep herself to herself, unless you have food, she will happily snatch a treat and hop off back to her favourite resting spot.

Due to Marshmallow being older, we have noticed she is not keen on jumping onto the higher enrichment. However, she loves to snooze under a well covered area. She did come into our care with sore hocks, we feel this may be due to her enjoying resting in similar positions and not being a super active girl. We have found that supplying her with softer bedding such as vet bedding in her favourite spots has helped with this and her hocks are now looking perfect! This may be something that could reoccur should she not have access to the softer resting areas in a new home. Since her hocks have healed we have noticed Marshmallow being more active within the unit and she and Loki are always keen and waiting for their breakfast first thing in the morning.

If you can give Marshmallow and Loki all the love in the world, plus some softer bedding.. please register your interest today!

They would need a standard indoor set up of a 3mx2m room with litter trays, lots of have and softer bedding such as vet bed provided in multiple areas.

Both Loki and Marshmallow are not big jumpers and tend to spend the majority of their time hiding under enrichment rather than on top. It is important to still provide them with lots of different levels so the option is there for them. This also provides them with ample covered areas to snuggle together.

Medical conditions

Marshmallow has a history of pododermatitis. She came into us with sore hocks. In their previous home, they did not have access to a large amount of space and this could have been a factor contributing to this. Since being on site we have monitored her closely to determine if her sore hocks could be connected to age related arthritis. We have trialled Marshmallow both on and off pain relief and feel that it has not made a difference in her movement. We have also added extra hay and vet bedding to their enclosure and this has since helped heal her hocks.

Are rabbits the right pet for me?

Rabbits are wonderful companions, but they’re often misunderstood as low-maintenance pets. The truth is, they’re not!

Here are a few things to think about before you apply:

  • Rabbits live for around 8-12 years, so adopting them is a long-term commitment.
  • They need significant space – a minimum of 3m x 2m with a height of 1m, 24 hours a day.
  • They need to live with at least one other rabbit.
  • A pair costs around £80 a month to care for.
  • They need regular vaccinations and are prone to certain health conditions that can be costly to treat.

Not sure if rabbits are the right pet for you? Our guide to choosing the right small pet species is a great place to start.

How much does it cost to adopt rabbits from Woodgreen?

Our adoption fees are:

  • Single rabbit (to be mixed with your existing rabbit/s) — £45
  • Pair of rabbits — £67
  • Trio of rabbits — £89

If you use our onsite mixing service, we ask for a donation of your choice on top of the adoption fee, if the mix is successful.

How long does the adoption process take?

Once you’ve submitted your application, we aim to get back to you within two working days. This may be a little longer during busy periods.

From there, timelines can vary depending on your setup approval. If you’re using our onsite mixing service, the number of bonding sessions to find the right match will also be a factor.

It’s worth starting your application as soon as you’re ready to begin the process.
