Like other small pets, they should be kept safely away from other animals in the home. As prey animals, they may feel threatened by the presence of other species, such as cats and dogs.
Family and environment
What kind of family am I looking for?
Guinea pigs can make lovely pets for all the family; they are loveable and charming little animals. Some confident piggies can rule the roost with their wheeking for veggies and demands of a cheeky little head rub from the get-go. Being prey animals they can get spooked quite easily, and it may take time for some guinea pigs to feel safe in their new home. Like any animal, treating them with kindness and patience, you will provide them with a safe environment for them to gain confidence.
What type of environment would suit me?
The minimum accommodation for a pair of boy guinea pigs consists of a minimum 6 x 2ft sheltered space, such as a hutch, Wendy house, shed or indoor accommodation. Along with a 6 x 4ft wooden framed run with a removeable/hinged lid, or equivalent indoor free-range space (if no access to garden) with a minimum of 18inches high.

About Shambles
Shambles is a beautiful young long-haired guinea pig who is looking for his new family. He’s still finding his feet and settling into the world around him, so he’s quite a shy little boy at the moment. He prefers to watch from a safe distance before deciding everything is okay, but with time, patience, and gentle care, we’re sure his confidence will continue to grow.
He is looking for a home with another male guinea pig. We feel he’d really benefit from having a calm, confident companion by his side to help him settle, build his confidence, and show him that the world isn’t such a scary place.
His lovely long coat gives him an extra touch of charm, and with regular grooming and lots of love, he’ll make a wonderful addition to the right home. Could you be the family for him? please get in contact with us via the website.
