Foster a cat

Could you give a temporary home to one of our cats? We’ll provide everything you need – and expert support during your feline friend’s stay.

How cat fostering helps

There’s no place like home. For cats who would benefit from extra care and creature comforts, a stay with a fosterer can bring many benefits.

As well as offering an environment better suited to their specific needs, it can help them prepare for life in a permanent home. And it can even make that day come sooner.

Fostering is also a great option for our long-termers who are harder to rehome. The extra space to roam can do the world of good.

Why foster a cat?

As a cat fosterer, you can take care of a pet when you have the time available to dedicate to them, with no long-term commitment. This can be great if you have a lifestyle which makes it harder to have a pet full-time.

We’ll provide everything your foster cat needs, so it won’t cost you a penny! And our teams will be on-hand at every step with round-the-clock support.

So, why not become a fosterer and play a vital role in our cats’ journeys to happiness?

We’ll take care of everything

Once you’re ready to foster, we’ll provide all the supplies you’ll need. This can include:

  • Food and treats
  • Collars
  • Pet cameras
  • Crates
  • Brushes
  • Other grooming supplies

Whatever your cat needs, we’ll make sure you’ve got it!

How to foster a cat – and what we’re looking for

We’re looking for cat lovers who can offer temporary foster homes for adult cats, kittens, and pregnant queens expecting litters. Ideally, you’ll be able to offer a spare room for your foster cats or provide whole house access.

We often need fosterers to care for cats that may need housetraining or have behavioural issues. Some foster cats may also have medical issues, for example cats with FIV.

To be eligible, your home must be within a 45-minute drive of our centre in Godmanchester.

If you already have pets, placing a foster cat with you may be more difficult. But we still encourage you to apply in case we have a cat who may be suitable.
