Meet Sam and Dean

  • Gentle
  • Playful
  • Curious

Meet Sam and Dean, a pair of very sweet boys looking for their forever home with some entire male rat friends to share their life with.

Sam and Dean are a sweet pair, who love having lots to keep them busy. The pair really enjoy having a toilet roll in their cage to make a cosy nest to snuggle and hide in. Dean absolutely loves to makes dens, you can watch him push, kick and purposefully place his bedding to make the most incredible beds for him and Sam to cuddle into. They both love their soil dig tray, especially when they are searching for mealworms that have been sprinkled in. They are also masters at pea fishing! Dunking their little paws and sometimes faces into the water to get the best pea or sweetcorn that make be floating around.

They are often together when in their cage and enjoy having each other to play with. Dean is the more confident of the two, coming over when you open the door and is the first to come out. This doesn’t mean Sam is shy, he is just as sweet but just a little slower with his approach. During free range time, they are both hopping around, and using you as a climbing frame, Sam particularly enjoying the shoulder spot.

If you have some male rats who would love more friends, and Sam and Dean sound like the right pair for your family. Please do get in touch via the website.

Accommodation requirements

Rats are extremely inquisitive. In fact, they take the word to a whole new level! They love nothing more than climbing, exploring and learning about their surroundings. So, that’s why it’s really important you provide your rats with a suitable sized enclosure, and it should include plenty of fun things to keep them fit and healthy.

A group of 3-4 rats will need an enclosure measuring at least 80cm (h) x 50cm (d) x 80cm (w).

The image below gives you an idea of how much space a group of three or four rats needs.

A multi-level small animal cage with ramps, tubes, water bottles, and various toys sits on a green surface against a plain white wall. A small basket with items is placed next to the cage.

A typical rat cage set up for up to four rats

A group of up to 10 rats will need much larger accommodation.
