Fireworks: how to keep your pets safe
Find out how to recognise fear in your pets and keep them safe and happy.
As with all small pets, rabbits will need to be housed securely away from any other pets in the home.
Rabbits do enjoy the companionship of humans and can become very affectionate and enjoy taking tasty fresh forage from your hands. Rabbits do not enjoy being handled and they can find loud noises and sudden movement scary, so they are often suited to families with slightly older children.
Rabbits need lots of space to keep them fit, healthy and happy, the ideal outdoor accommodation for a pair should consist of a shed/wendy house attached to a run or a 6ft single level hutch, attached to a 3m long by 2m wide by 1m high run.
Alternatively, the ideal indoor accommodation for a pair should consist of a large room that the rabbits can have 24hr access to (Minimum 60sqft), plus daily access to other areas in the home, as well as a secure run to use outdoors in the garden in the warmer months. It’s important they are able to hop, stretch up and jump on to things to express their natural behaviours.

Meet Simba, he is a charming bunny with a heart full of love and curiosity. Simba is always ready to come over to say hello, he is ever so gentle and will sit and enjoy some head rubs, looking up at you for more when you stop. He has an inquisitive nature and is always eager to explore his new enrichment his carers give him, hopping around to check every part of it. He will often be found following his carers around while they’re cleaning and generally loves to be close to them. Simba is looking for his forever home where he can find a new bunny friend, and some cosy places to stretch out and snooze, as well as lots of new places he can get his little nose into to explore.
If you can provide a home for Simba, please do contact us through the website.
